Argyle boys take first win over Pec since 2012

It was a banner day at Argyle Dec. 13, as the Oriole boys basketball team defeated Pecatonica, 52-35.

It was the first time Argyle had defeated the Vikings since Dec. 14, 2012.

The Orioles jumped out to a big 24-11 lead by halftime and still managed to outscore Pecatonica, 28-24, in the second half.


Monticello 60, Barneveld 54

The Ponies (6-0 overall) scored 30 points in each half, using an eight-point cushion at halftime to ride to the victory, Friday, Dec. 13

Reece Rufer led Monticello with 21 points followed by Peter Gustafson with 18 and both Simon Blohowiak and Rudy Wicker scored eight.

Barneveld fell to 1-3 on the season.


Darlington 75, Southwestern 52

The Redbirds (4-0) jumped out to a 30-24 lead at halftime and then outscored Southwestern (2-2 overall) 45-28 to the buzzer, Friday, Dec. 13.

The scoring came by committee for Darlington with Carter Lancaster leading the team with 21, Cayden Rankin scoring 14, and Curtis Stone and Easton Evenstad each scoring 10.

Rankin led the team in both rebounds, with 10, and assists, with seven.

Also on Friday, Dec. 13, Black Hawk defeated Albany, 46-32.


Brodhead 74, Clinton 39

Owen Leifker scored 15 points to lead Brodhead (2-2 overall) over Clinton (0-3 overall), 74-39, Thursday, Dec. 12.

Cardinal teammates Connor Green and Cade Walker added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Brady Malkow added 10 rebounds for Brodhead.
