MONROE - Red Cross Lifeguard Training will be offered with a pre-test from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 26.
Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28. Water Park Certification, which is required to work at the Monroe pool, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 2. Those who participate must be 15 years or older on or before the final scheduled session of the course. Classes will be held at the pool at Recreation Park and the Community Center. The cost for the class is $100 for residents and $125 for non-residents.
Certification requirements include attending all classes, demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities and correctly answer at least 80 percent of the questions on the three sections of the final exam. Upon successful completion of all these requirements, participants will receive their lifeguarding/first aid certification valid for three years and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer valid for two years and Water Park Certification.
