JUDA - Sophomore ace pitcher Nicki Becker tossed a no-hitter in the rain, and the Panthers hit three home runs en route to rolling to a 13-0 five-inning win over Cassville-River Ridge on Friday.
Becker struck out 10 and didn't issue a walk. She was one throw to first base away from a perfect game. She struck out a batter in the fifth but the Cassville-River Ridge player reached on a passed ball on a strikeout.
"I was surprised she had all of her pitches with the weather conditions," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "She threw a great game and was very disciplined."
Juda-Albany (15-5, 12-0 Six Rivers East), ranked second in the WiscSports.net Division 4 coaches' poll, repeated as conference champions.
"We accomplished one of our goals," Davis said. "We have to keep working hard going into the playoffs and hopefully we can stay hot and keep hitting."
Juda-Albany senior Jessica Crull went 3-for-3 with two home runs and five RBI. Junior Sara Jordan finished 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, and junior Alexis Goecks was 3-for-4.
Goecks singled to lead off the first inning, and Jordan hit a two-run home run to center. Crull then blasted a solo home run to left center for a 3-0 lead.
Crull crushed a three-run home run to center in a six-run third to help the Panthers take a 10-0 lead.
"Our bats are really coming alive," Davis said. "They have been working hard at it (hitting), and they are starting to see the results."
