DARLINGTON - The Darlington boys track team edged Monroe by 0.5 points to win the Redbird Invitational Monday.
Darlington just clipped the Cheesemakers 125-124.5 for the team title. The Albany boys finished sixth place (51.5 points) and Black Hawk (2) was last out of 11 teams.
Darlington junior Jaden Komprood won the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4 minutes, 38.34 seconds. Albany senior Brennan Bloedel finished second place (4:40.4) and Monroe junior Thang Lu took third (4:45.38).
Monroe freshman Dylan Scace won the 800 (2:08.25) and junior teammate Dominick Curtiss was second (2:10.43). Darlington junior Blake Cwynar finished second place in the 3,200 (10:43.86) and Monroe sophomore Ryan Peterson took third (11:02.75).
Monroe junior Tyler Sobacki had the fastest qualifying time, but took second place in the 110 high hurdles (17.27). Darlington freshman Grady Rielly won the 300 hurdles (45.77).
The Redbirds finished second in the 800 relay (1:39.15) and third in the 400 relay (48.42).
The Cheesemakers' 3,200 relay team of Drake Ingold, Peterson, Parker Ingold and Jack Schluesche won the race with a time of 8:47.33, which was just ahead of second-place Darlington (8:49.86).
Albany's Aaron Johnson, Dallas Edmondson, Hunter Georgeson and Tyler Dahl won the 1,600 relay (3:40.62).
Monroe junior Mitch Swanson won the long jump (18 feet, 6 1/2 inches).
Darlington sophomore Mitchell Wagner tied for second place in the high jump (5-10) and Monroe senior Mitch Keith tied for second place in the pole vault (10-6). Monroe freshman Brayden Zettle took second in the triple jump (38-6) and Darlington senior Cole Trumble was third (38-3).
In the girls' meet, Cuba City ran to the title outdistancing Lancaster 145.8-119.3. Darlington finished fourth place (88.5 points) and Monroe took fifth place (52). Albany finished sixth (35.5), Pecatonica-Argyle took eighth place (32) and Black hawk was 11th (11).
Monroe sophomore Ciara Kaderly won the 800 with a time of 2:35.8 and Albany junior Sydnee Woyak took third (2:38.61). The Cheesemakers' 3,200 relay team of Mya Waterman, Isabel Bazley, Rachel Meier and Kaderly won with a time of 10:34.55. Albany's 3,200 relay team of Lyndsay Hoesly, Woyak, Lauren Blumer and Madeline Halverson took second (10:56.12).
Pecatonica-Argyle sophomore Josie Penniston had the fastest qualifying time in the 200, but took second place in the finals (27.64). Penniston won the 400 (1:00.97) and Darlington junior Carly Langkamp took second place (1:04.30). Langkamp won the pole vault (8-6) and Monroe sophomore Josie Eberle took second (8-6). Monroe senior Ramsey Benkert took third place in the pole vault (7-6).
