OREGON - The Cheesemakers won every match that was wrestled en route to a 66-12 win over host Oregon Friday.

"Oregon's hurting for numbers," Monroe coach Tom Witt said. "I thought it was a good performance by us."

In the first official match of the night at 170-pounds, Monroe's Sam Kind beat Devin Keast 4-2.

"Sam had the toughest match," Witt said. "I thought Dempzy (Foley) would have a good match, but it went pretty quick."

In the next match, Foley, at 182-pounds, pinned Robbie Ruth in the first period.

The third match of the night (195) saw probably the most excitement. Monroe's Julian Gruber won what Witt called, "the ultimate tiebreaker," 3-2.

After wrestling through the three regulation rounds plus overtime, both wrestlers have to wrestle from the referee's position. The wrestler who scored the first points in regulation has the choice of top or bottom position. The grappler in the top position must maintain for the entire period to get the tie-breaking win. In order for the bottom grappler to win, they must escape.

Gruber escaped.

"Julian got that extra escape. He had a good match. It was good for him to mentally get that one, he was pretty tired," Witt said.

Monroe's Bodie Minder won via pin in just 22 seconds at 220 pounds. The only other wrestled match of the night was Dakota Wickstrum, who pinned Faith Trinidad in 40 seconds.
