PALMYRA - The Brodhead softball team has started heating up after defeating Palmyra-Eagle 10-6 Thursday. It marks the fourth win in the Cardinals' last five games.

Brodhead jumped out to a 4-0 lead with a three-run first inning. Brodhead junior Amber Pickel went 3-for-5 with three RBI and senior Taylor Gerlach was 3-for-3.

Senior teammate Brooke Boegli went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and senior Erin Kloepping was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Senior Payton Wright was 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.

The Cardinals (6-9, 5-7 Rock Valley South) pounded out 15 hits and had a three-run fifth and two-run sixth to put the game away. Brodhead won, despite committing five errors.

Boegli pitched a complete game to get the win. She gave up four earned runs on six hits. She struck out seven and walked two.



Argyle 11, Cassville-River Ridge 5

CASSVILLE - Argyle senior Jenna Langmeier went 2-for-3 to lead the Orioles to an 11-5 win over Cassville-River Ridge Thursday.

The Comet-Timberwolves jumped out to a 3-1 lead after three innings.

The Orioles broke the game open with a five-run fourth. Cassville-River Ridge was plagued by five errors.

Argyle's Hannah Saalsaa went 2-for-4. Argyle sophomore Kayla Butler-Paulson pitched six innings to get the win. She gave up five earned runs on 11 hits. She struck out two and walked two.

Argyle will host Highland today.



Cuba City 4, Darlington 0

DARLINGTON - The Darlington softball team had just two hits and lost a pitcher's duel to Cuba City 4-0 Thursday.

Cuba City's Jessi Marti went 2-for-3 for the Cubans. Cuba City had a three-run first inning to key the win.

Darlington's Tara Reichling pitched five innings and gave up three earned runs on seven hits. She struck out two and walked one.

Darlington will host Monticello in a non-conference game today.
