BELLEVILLE - The Cambridge Blue Jays won five of the last six weight classes and beat the Sugar River Raiders, 54-23, in Capitol Conference wrestling action Thursday night.
The match started at 135 pounds and Cambridge grabbed an 18-0 lead before Sugar River's Dan Nolden pinned Leif Sperle in 1:07 at 160 pounds to make the score 18-6.
The Raiders closed to within 24-17 after Ben Schmitt won with a technical fall in 3:58 over Keaton Hubred of Cambridge at 189 pounds.
Michael Nolden then pinned Dylan Clark in 1:06 at 215 pounds. But Cambridge got four forfeits and a pin to offset Taylor Christen's win by forfeit at 112 pounds to close it out.
Sugar River will wrestle at the Richland Center Invitational Saturday.
