"I'm really proud of my team," Brodhead coach Erin Kammerer said. "We are really rolling. I feel like we are in a great spot. Conference is coming up this week and we are ready to compete."

Brodhead junior Abbey Johnson had 37 kills, 15 aces, 54 assists and 45 digs in the invitational. Senior Chandra Clark racked up 28 kills, 46 assists and 24 digs. Senior Erin Nyhus added 12 kills and 21 digs. Fellow senior Brooke Bescup had 25 digs and sophomore Katie Goecks added 18 kills.

Monroe finished seventh in the invitational. In pool play, the Cheesemakers knocked off Monticello 25-14, 25-22 and then lost to Whitewater 21-25, 16-25. As the second seed in pool play, Monroe went on to face Lake Mills. The L-Cats beat Monroe 25-18, 25-14 and the Cheesemakers were put into the silver bracket. Belleville defeated the Cheesemakers in their first silver bracket match 25-14, 25-15. The Cheesemakers bounced back to edge Juda 25-21, 25-15 in a seventh-place match.

Argyle split four sets in pool play and then defeated Juda in silver bracket play 25-22, 21-25, 15-8. The Orioles finished sixth overall after Belleville defeated Argyle in the championship match of the silver bracket 25-19, 23-25, 15-11. Albany finished 10th, followed by Monticello in 11th and New Glarus 12th.

Beloit Turner edged Albany to win the bronze bracket 20-25, 25-20, 15-5.

"We started out the day well and ended well, but we fell short in between," Monroe coach Heidi Witt said. "We thought we could have played better and finished higher at this invite. We have the potential to play much better against the teams we lost to. We essentially beat ourselves in those matches. We need to mentally focus on the game better and keep our energy level up. We are slow to react defensively at times and that hurt us."

Monroe senior Sydney Mathiason had 28 kills, six blocks, eight aces and 13 digs in the invitational. Sophomore Cassi Gersbach had 13 kills and five blocks. Freshman Zoee Pond added 11 kills.

Senior Alexis Allen had 38 assists on the day. Fellow senior Meredith Hose notched five digs. Senior Alysha Witt had 20 assists and seven aces.

"We know what we need to work on in practice this week," Witt said. "But it was good to end the day with a win."
