Black Hawk tops Pec in 4 sets

SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk sophomore Sam Lovelace had seven kills and five digs to lead the Warriors to a a four-set win over Pecatonica Thursday.

"It's our homecoming week and I think it took a lot of composure to come back," Black Hawk coach Rachel Wolff said. "That is something we have struggled with and have been working on. To stay focused after we were down, I'm really proud of them. We really controlled the ball with our passes and they were on point."

Pecatonica knocked off the Warriors 25-19 in the first set. The Warriors battled back winning three straight 25-20, 25-17, 25-21 to seal the win.

Black Hawk junior Aleigha Sigafus had six kills. Black Hawk's Brooke Moore had 15 assists and Jordyn Delzer had two blocks. With the win, Black Hawk improves to 4-5 in the Six Rivers East.

Pecatonica's Clara Moen had six kills and seven digs to lead the Vikings. Elizabeth Tisch had a team-high 11 assists and three aces for the Vikings. Pecatonica's Britt Miller had a match-high eight blocks. Sami Miller and Lexie Phillips both added seven digs.



Argyle 3, Barneveld 1

BARNEVELD - Argyle senior Jenna Langmeier had a monster match with 21 kills and 23 digs to propel the Orioles to a 25-7, 25-15, 24-26, 25-21 win over Barneveld.

With the win, Argyle (11-4, 8-1 Six Rivers East) kept pace with Monticello. Argyle is just one win behind conference leader Monticello.

"They came out strong right away," Argyle coach Jen Butler said of the Orioles. "They knew what they had to do."

The Orioles had 17 aces as a team and were led by Kayla Butler-Paulson who had 41 assists and a team-high six aces.

"Their serving was very strong," Butler said.

Argyle's Kylie Johnsen added two blocks. Argyle could move into a first-place tie atop the conference if they can beat Monticello Thursday in Argyle.



Monticello 3,

Juda 0

MONTICELLO - The Ponies stayed unbeaten, sweeping Juda in a tight match 25-21, 25-21, 25-14.

With the win, Monticello improves to 12-2, 8-0 Six Rivers East.

"It feels good to keep the train moving," Monticello coach Scott Smice said. "It's good to see us not get concerned about being down early. We knew it wouldn't be easy. Juda is a scrappy team."

Juda had early leads in each game before the Ponies came back to win.

Monticello senior Alyssah Kubly had a match-high 16 kills. Senior Jordan Garrison racked up 31 assists and had three of the team's eight aces. Brecklyn Kloesterman had five kills and five blocks.

Juda was led by senior Morgan Adkins who had 15 digs and four aces. Juda sophomore Alexis Goecks had a team-high six kills. Senior teammate Cheyenne Ambler had 11 digs and a team-high three blocks.

Monticello will play at Albany Tuesday before a key showdown with Argyle.

"We are focused on Albany," Smice said. "We have to keep improving and we have to earn it (conference championship)."



Boscobel 3, Darlington 1

DARLINGTON - Rival Boscobel pulled out a four-set win over Darlington, 26-24, 25-23, 22-25, 25-10.

Darlington's Kennedy Rankin had seven kills to lead the Redbirds who drop to 0-8 in the SWAL. Darlington's Chloe Hinderman had 12 assists and Allie Kissel added three blocks.

Boscobel (2-5 SWAL) was led by Kenzie Trumm who had 14 kills.
