Amorose tied for 36th after first day

MADISON - Argyle-Pecatonica senior Matthew Amorose is tied for 36th place after shooting a 22-over-par 95 in the first-round of the WIAA Division 3 state golf tournament at University Ridge.

Amorose is in a two-way tie for 36th with Pacelli's Trevor Frane after the first-round on Monday. He's five shots away from the top 30. Amorose posted four pars on the 174-yard No. 3, 570-yard No. 6, 358-yard No. 14 and the 192-yard No. 17.

He had three triple bogeys on the 354-yard No. 4, the 424-yard No. 10 and the 154-yard No. 6.

Amorose will play in the second round of the state tournament today.
