Steven Thomas Becker
Steven Thomas Becker

Steven Thomas Becker, beloved son, brother, step-father and friend, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the age of 68. Steven was born on April 29, 1951 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Lee and Delores (Gonia) Becker. He graduated from Waupaca High School and Electronic Computer Programming Institute before entering the United States Air Force. After serving 7 years, he returned to civilian life and began his career as a Police Officer for the City of Monroe, Wisconsin where he worked until his retirement in 2002.

Steve enjoyed fishing, even though the big ones always got away, and visiting casinos near and far - with uncanny luck at winning. He had a passion for cars (especially a '58 Chevy) and thoroughly enjoyed beating family and friends in a game of cribbage. He loved to make people laugh - and even in his final days would crack jokes with his friends, family and hospital staff. He was generous, sometimes to a fault, but always offered to help people in need.

Steven was preceded in death by his father, Lee, and his wife Patricia (‘Patti’) Patton Becker. He is survived by his mother Delores Becker Smrz, two sisters, Barbara Becker and Sandi Fuller, a very special step-daughter, Kelly Douglas, as well as uncles, aunts, and cousins. He had countless friends, and held dear his close friendships with Nick (Ann) Blohm, Lloyd Pelzer, Angelica Lewis and her three children, Cecelia, Cash and Calvin.

Steven’s family and friends would like to share their sincere gratitude for the respectful and loving care provided by the nurses and staff at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah, Wisconsin during the final week of Steven’s life.

Steven will be cremated and his ashes will be buried in Calvary Cemetery in Monroe, Wisconsin next to his wife Patti. A military honor guard ceremony will be held after the Safer at Home recommendations related to Covid-19 are lifted. Condolences may be shared online at Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca (www.hollyfuneralhome.com), who is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made in Steven's memory to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Monroe, Wisconsin, Post 2312.
