Ruth M. Zumbach, age 99, of Monroe, died on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was born on May 18, 1919 in Rockford, IL; the daughter of Clifford and Angeline (Cole) Fleming. Ruth graduated from Rockford High School in 1937.

Orlin Weeks and Ruth Fleming were united in marriage on November 24, 1938 in Rockford; she later married Ernest Zumbach on November 15, 1948 in Monroe.

Ruth worked at Schuetze’s in Monroe for many years.

Ruth was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, life member of the Cecil Jones VFW post #2312 Auxiliary, serving as past president and district president; the Women’s Relief Corps of Monroe, and Family and Community Educators of Ocala. She also was an avid bowler and enjoyed spending time with family.

She is survived by her children: Diana (Alan) Weckerly of Monroe, Floyd (Jackie) Weeks of Thomaston, GA, Linda (Mike) Deininger of Monroe, and Gerry (Richard) Gobeli of Winter Park, FL; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, husbands, Orlin, killed in action during WWII in 1945 and Ernest in 1994, a step-daughter, and three grandchildren.

Memorial service will be at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, October 22, 2018, at St. John’s United Church of Christ with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday October 22nd from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the church.
