Rosalie M. Leopold, age 94 of Monroe, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Rosalie was born on January 22, 1927 in rural Albany, the daughter of Robert and Florence (Nolty) Clark. She attended Shanghai Rural School and was united in marriage to Frank “Junior” Leopold on April 28, 1945 in Spring Grove Township. Rosalie farmed alongside her husband in Spring Grove for many years before moving into Juda in 1974. She also worked for Burgess Battery in Freeport for 25 years, Oaktron Industries for 15 years, and with her husband at Greenco Industries for two years until retiring. In her younger years, Rosalie was an active member of Oakley Union United Methodist Church and she and Frank played in a Euchre card club for 50 years with several other couples. She was a member of the Oakley Homemakers and always enjoyed cooking and gardening.
She is survived by three children, Sherri (Duane) Siedschlag of Mackinaw, IL, Stuart (Beth) Leopold, Wendy Althaus, both of Monroe; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and a brother, Forrest Clark of Davis, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank, on June 25, 2010; two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at the Zion United Methodist Church in Juda, with Rev. Kelly Jahn officiating. Interment will follow in Oakley Church Cemetery. Visitation will be at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
A memorial fund will be established in Rosalie’s name for Oakley Union United Methodist Church.
