Mary Etta Visger, age 77, passed away on August 20, 2022 while at her home surrounded by her family.
Mary was born on April 30, 1945 in Freeport, the daughter of Charles and Violet (Pownell) Thompson. Mary married LaVerne Visger in Freeport, IL on December 24, 1961. LaVerne preceded Mary in death on February 18, 2015.
Mary worked at Dura Automotive in Stockton for over 30 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, hummingbirds and lived over 50 years in Winslow.
Mary is survived by her 3 children, Laura McCord, Lynn Visger and Loretta (Ken) Harvell; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Charlie and Richard Thompson; 2 sisters, Sandy Thybert and Rose Fair and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, LaVerne in 2015, 3 brothers, Mike, Donald and Clifford Thompson and 3 grand daughters, Ashley and Natasha Visger and MaKenzi Harnish in 2021.
A memorial gathering will be held on October 1, 2022 at her residence in Winslow. Please watch for future time updates.
