Lucille A. Signer, age 97 of Darlington, WI formerly of Gratiot, WI passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington, WI. She was born June 10, 1921 in Lafayette County, WI, the daughter of Jonas and Sarah (Hodgen) Fowler. Lucille lived in the Benton, WI and Gratiot area all of her life. She was united in marriage to Wallace Signer on October 16, 1940 in Dubuque, IA. Lucille worked at the Savanna Ordinance Plant in Savanna, IL, for three years before working for MicroSwitch in Warren, IL, for 20 years, before retiring in 1985.
Lucille is survived by one daughter: Sharon Sigafus of Gratiot, WI; one son: Gary (Sharon) Signer of Gratiot; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren and one special friend: Shelly Mueller of Shullsburg, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace Signer; her parents; one son: Ronald Signer; two grandsons: Matthew Signer in infancy, and Michael Sigafus; one great-great-grandson: Luca in infancy; two sisters: May Bennett and Opal Bennett; and one son-in-law: Herbert Sigafus.
Lucille loved flowers but absolutely hated leaves. In her spare time, she enjoyed baking, cooking, and canning vegetables from her garden that she worked hard to maintain. Lucille had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially her cat Jenny. She cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything else in the world. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Evangelical Free Church in Gratiot with Rev. Glenn Andes officiating. Burial will be in Gratiot M.E. Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday, November 12, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Evangelical Free Church and on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M at the church.
