Linda Jeanne Preston
Linda Jeanne Preston

Linda Jeanne Preston, age 78, of New Glarus, WI, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, unexpectedly during surgery. Linda was born on November 22, 1944, in Monroe, WI to Elmer and Frances.  She grew up on a farm near Brodhead with her three siblings. Linda was proud of her heritage as a stubborn Swiss woman. She was Homecoming Queen for Brodhead High School and graduated in 1962. In 1963, Linda married Gary Preston and they raised a family. Linda spent most of her life working in Monroe, most recently at Moore Business Forms. Linda was passionate about her sports, specifically bowling, softball, and golf. She was part of many competitive leagues. Linda would get herself on enough softball leagues in Green County to be able to play every night of the week and then spend the weekends playing in tournaments. Sports brought her so much joy and she could not stop smiling while she was on the field. The latest sport she loved was golf. She proudly held a membership at Edelweiss Golf Course for several years and would frequently play 72 (or more) holes of golf per day. If she was waiting for someone to finish up ahead of her, she loved looking for lost balls in the tall grass. It was a sad time when her knees got too bad to keep golfing.

Linda was extremely dedicated to her children’s events and interests, especially athletic ones. She would attend every game with all sorts of accessories to rally fans behind the team. Linda always opened up her home to her children’s friends and welcomed them in with open arms and plenty of food.

Linda is survived by children: Robert Preston of Cleveland, OH, Taryn Preston of New Glarus, WI, Amber Preston of Belleville, WI, Kristi (Dillon) Pearson of Manitowoc, WI; grandchildren: Robert Preston, Ilon Preston, Noah Preston, Jordan Caputo, Justin Caputo, Wesley Pearson; fluffy grandbabies; brother, Ronald (Vivienne) Braun and numerous nephews and nieces. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Elmer (Patricia) Braun, mother, Frances (Hexom) Braun, brother, Roger Braun, sister Nancy Delvis and daughter, Deborah Preston.

Linda was loved dearly by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at Edelweiss Chalet Country Club (W4764 Edelweiss Rd., New Glarus, WI) on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.  Refreshments will be provided.  Please refer to Kristi Pearson (pearsonk1821@gmail.com mailto:pearsonk1821@gmail.com) with any questions.
