MONROE - The Cat's Pajamas will perform a benefit concert for the Monroe schools vocal music program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center. The group will visit all five district schools during the school day before the public performance.
The group, comprised of five male singers, has appeared on NBC's "The Sing-Off," and performed two years ago in Monroe. The group was also recently asked to headline at The Andy Williams Moon River Theatre for 2012 in Branson, Mo.
Most of the group hails from small towns in the Midwest and once a year, they set up clinics and shows at schools throughout the Midwest that focus on promoting vocal music and health as a way of giving back. The group has raised more than $37,000 for choral music departments since 2007.
The group will donate a portion of the proceeds from Tuesday's concert to the school. The visits to the schools during the day and their full-length concert at night are provided free to the district.
Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $7 for students. Tickets may be purchased in advance at any of the area school offices, the district administrative center and Ruf's. Tickets will also be available at the door 45 minutes prior to the concert.
The group will also perform at Juda school at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29. Tickets for that show are available at the Juda school or Albany school offices.
