MONROE — A 22-year-old man died Sunday morning, Aug. 18 after becoming trapped beneath an overturned tractor in rural Stephenson County.
According to a statement from the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called at about 8:50 a.m. to a rural area along South Kent Road and West Kempel Road to investigate reports of an incident involving a tractor.
Authorities said the tractor, an orange Allis-Chalmers, somehow entered the ditch west of South Kent Road and rolled down the embankment, pinning the operator, Jacob Green, of Kent, beneath it.
While the fatal incident was believed to have happened sometime in the early morning hours, the amount of time he spent trapped underneath is unclear.
The Pearl City fire department was among the emergency agencies responding to the crash.
