MONROE - Volunteer Tax Aide counselors who are trained and certified by the Internal Revenue Service are available to provide free, individual assistance to older, low- to moderate-income individuals to help complete their tax returns.
The counselors can assist with forms 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, Schedule A, B, C-EZ, and D; and the Wisconsin Forms 1, 1A WI-Z; and the Homestead Credit Claim. Counselors can also determine whether or not individuals have a filing requirement, or are eligible for Earned Income credit, credit for the elderly, or any other credits that would be applicable.
Individuals who use this service will need to bring copies of their previous year's tax returns, as well as their W-2s 1099 forms and other relevant materials for the current year. If filing a Homestead Credit Claim, 2011 property tax bills and/or rent certificates are needed.
