MONROE - Sen. Dale Schultz, R-Richland Center, and Sen. Tim Cullen, D-Janesville, will visit several dairy businesses in Lafayette and Green counties next week as they renew their Common Ground Tour.

The tour begins Tuesday, June 19 at the Roelli Cheese Company, 15982 Wisconsin 11, Shullsburg. From 10 to 10:45 a.m., fourth-generation cheesemaker Chris Roelli will conduct a tour of his cheese plant. The senators will also tour the company's 16-truck milk and whey-hauling operation.

Next, Schultz and Cullen will travel to Argyle. Their first scheduled stop is from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Irma's Kitchen, 318 East Milwaukee St., for lunch and conversation. Argyle Village President Wayne Wilson is expected to join them. The public is invited to attend as well. After lunch, Schultz and Cullen will meet with pudding-maker and business owner Ann Lancaster at Louie's Specialty Foods, 109 River St., Argyle.

In Green County, Schultz and Cullen will meet Ron and Chris Paris, owner and operators of the Sugar River Dairy, N7346 County D, Albany. They will host the senators at their homestead yogurt-making facility.

At 3:30 p.m., the senators will visit the cheesemaking operation at Decatur Dairy, 9505 County F, Brodhead, where Steve Stettler will host them.

To close the tour, Schultz and Cullen will head to Baumgartner's Tavern and Cheese Store, 1023 16th Ave., Monroe, for a meet-and-greet with the public. Community members, business leaders and local officials are invited to join them to discuss concerns.

Under the newly drawn legislative boundaries, Cullen will represent a portion of eastern Green County that includes Albany and Brodhead.

"June is Dairy Month, and our dairy producers, big and small, contribute tremendously to our state economy," Cullen said. "Cheese plants dot our towns and countrysides, and I look forward to highlighting a few of them."

Schultz welcomes written comments from those unable to join him during the tour. More information is available by emailing him at sen.schultz@legis.wi.gov or visiting senatordaleschultz.com.
