JUDA — After 15 years in prison, a Green County man under lifetime supervision as a sex offender is being released back into the community.

Chester W. Bittner, 51, will be living in Juda at N3109 County S starting on or about July 28, according to the Green County Sheriff’s Office.

Bittner is convicted of child enticement and second-degree sexual assault with use of force. The case stems from an incident in Monticello on Jan. 1, 2005.

The victim was a stranger, according to the sheriff’s office.

During his time in prison, Bittner was convicted twice in the battery of other inmates, in 2011 and again in 2018.

Bittner has served his sentence but will be under direct supervision and on electronic monitoring. His criminal history puts him “in a classification level which reflects the potential to re-offend,” according to the sheriff’s office.

He is not wanted by police and the sheriff’s office emphasized that notice of his release is intended only as a service to inform the public and that “citizen abuse of this information to threaten, harass or intimidate registered sex offenders will not be tolerated.”
