MONROE — Construction is set to begin April 27 on a stretch of 6th Street and Wisconsin 59 on the eastern edge of the city, the Green County Sheriff’s Office announced.
The driveways to the Green County Justice Center and sheriff’s office will be closed during the construction project, which is expected to be completed July 29. These building will be accessible via the Highway Department driveway. A temporary access road will connect the sheriff’s office parking lot to the Justice Center parking lot.
The stretch under construction and closed to travel will be 6th Street starting at the intersection with 28th Avenue, continuing across the Albany interchange onto Wis. 59 out to Weiss Lane. All four ramps for the Albany interchange at Wis. 11/81 will also eventually close during construction.
The ongoing Wis. 11/81 bypass project is scheduled for completion around May 8. The ramp from Wis. 69 North to the westbound lanes of Wis. 11/81 is scheduled to open May 1.
An additional construction project is planned for this summer for the area west of the Argyle exchange on Wis. 81 just past County N. This project was recently awarded, according to the Highway Commissioner, and a specific start date is not yet scheduled.
