DODGEVILLE — Wisconsin State Representative Todd Novak announced his candidacy for re-election in the 51st Assembly District today.
“I’ve lived in Southwest Wisconsin my entire life. Born and raised on our family farm in Cobb, I’ve brought my small town upbringing to Madison where I’ve proudly represented my hometown. It would be an honor to continue to serve as your Representative,” said Novak.
Prior to serving in state government, Rep. Novak worked as an Associate Editor at the Dodgeville Chronicle. His work at the paper allowed him to develop strong ties to his community and sparked his interest in local government. Now he serves as the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Local Government and is a strong advocate for our rural areas.
More than ever, we must prioritize public safety and stand up for our law enforcement officers, he said. As a member of the Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety, Rep. Novak supported a package of legislation that invested in officer recruitment and retention. To ensure those that break the law are held accountable, Rep. Novak led the effort to add additional positions for Assistant District Attorneys in Green, Lafayette and Sauk Counties.
The pandemic challenged every community across Wisconsin. When budget shortfalls resulting from the pandemic forced the closure of historic sites across the district, Rep. Novak authored legislation to direct federal funds to help them reopen. As businesses progress down the long road to recovery from government-mandated shutdowns, Rep. Novak authored legislation creating a local media advertising tax credit to help them get back on their feet. An important part of my job is being accessible to every one of my constituents. Whether you voted for me or not, I will make myself available to hear your concerns, work on solutions, and follow through,” said Novak. “I have a strong record of bringing everyone to the table and finding a way forward.
“During my time as your representative I have had the backs of our law enforcement officers, supported our small businesses, and sought solutions to grow our workforce and our economy. I’ve fought for better access to healthcare and worked to find bipartisan solutions to the issues that matter to residents of the 51st Assembly District.”
The 51st Assembly District includes parts of Green, Lafayette, Iowa, Sauk, and Richland Counties.
