BRODHEAD - Police have identified the 54-year-old man whose body was found Saturday in the Sugar River Mill Race in Brodhead.
Police on Monday identified the man as Steven J. Webber of Brodhead.
Brodhead Police Chief Tom Moczynski said, based on the police investigation and the coroner's autopsy, the cause of death appears to be drowning and no foul play is suspected.
A passerby discovered the body around 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the water adjacent to Putnam Park, just south of County F, officials said. First responders then located the body in the river.
The mill race, a manmade tributary of the Sugar River, flows through Brodhead.
The autopsy was conducted by the Green County Coroner's office on Sunday.
