Pianist to perform at MAC Sunday

MONROE - Madison pianist Jess Salek will perform a diverse program of compositions by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Monroe Arts Center, 1315 11th St., Monroe.

This is the third of four concerts in Monroe Arts Center's 2016-17 Sunday Concert Series. The concert takes place at MAC's Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall.

Playing with technical mastery and sensitivity, Salek draws-in and transports listeners into the world of the composer.

His remarkable virtuosity combined with his love for the piano and the experience of performing shines through, giving audiences an unforgettable musical experience.

Salek has performed solo piano programs throughout the Midwest. He won the piano division of the Wisconsin Federation of Music Clubs competition, and the Beethoven Competition in Madison. He served as music director of Fresco Opera Theatre and music theory instructor at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, among other positions.

Salek is accompanist for Madison Youth Choir and keyboardist with Madison Symphony Orchestra and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra for Concerts on the Square. He is the founder of Mosaic Chamber Players and Salek Piano Studio Inc., where he teaches a diverse group of about 50 students of all ages and levels. He holds degrees from Lawrence University and State University of New York at Stony Brook.

General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students 18 years of age and younger. Monroe Arts Center members may attend this concert for free.
