Passport program offers look into local heritage

MONROE - During National Tourism Week, through Saturday, May 11, Green County Tourism is introducing ways to learn more about local heritage through the new "Passport to Our Past" program.

Travelers and local residents are invited to visit a minimum of six participating museums or historic sites and have their passport stamped. The passport includes a "mystery photo" for each location, and visitors are encouraged to match the correct photo with the correct location. Completed passports can be submitted to Green County Tourism to be entered into monthly prize drawings.

Passports are available at the following participating locations: Albany Historical Museum, Attica Blacksmith Shop (Franklin Grove Etc.), Brodhead Depot Museum, Brooklyn Area Historical Society (Marketplace Consignments), Browntown Community Museum, Chalet of the Golden Fleece and Swiss Historical Village in New Glarus, Green County Courthouse, Green County Genealogical Society (lower level Monroe Public Library), Green County Historical Museum and National Historic Cheesemaking Center in Monroe, Monroe Arts Center, Monticello Historical Museum, Toy Train Barn and Turner Hall of Monroe.
