DARLINGTON — A Monroe man with warrants for his arrest was jailed after running away from police twice, being stunned by a Taser and an search involving three K-9s, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Nathan L. Wiesenberg Jr., 43, was arrested May 1 for a probation violation regarding charges of obstructing law enforcement, possessing THC and drug paraphernalia.

Wisconsin Department of Corrections records show his status as absconded from a five-year sentence handed down in 2014 in Green County for his fifth offense of operating while intoxicated.

At about 10:30 a.m. May 1, a farmer called the sheriff’s office to report seeing a suspicious man walking down Otter Creek Road in rural Darlington. The responding deputy located the man and was able to identify him as Wiesenberg before he took off on foot.

Dep-uties and police from Dar-lington, Benton and Argyle, along with three K-9s, did an “exhaustive” search of the area to find Wiesenberg before calling it off after 2 p.m., Sheriff Reg Gill said.

That evening, Wiesenberg was located walking near Wiota.

“He took off running again, but they were able to corral him,” Gill said.

Deputies used a Taser on Wiesenberg, so Wiota First Response and Argyle EMS responded to evaluate him, Gill said. Wiesenberg was medically cleared at a hospital before getting transported to jail.
