MONROE - At a meeting Monday, the City of Monroe Board of Public Works:

- Approved for payment a bill from H. James and Sons, Inc. for $22,000 for work on 21st street detention pond.

- Discussed ownership of a sewer lateral for service to 808 13th Ave. The lateral is longer than average to connect to the sewer main on 9th Street to service the property. No action was taken.

- Reviewed and recommended to council to approve a change order to the contract with H. James and Sons, Inc. add chain link fencing on the north and east sides of the 21st Street storm water pond for $20,460. The fencing was not part of the original contract. Committee members considered the location of the pond near a daycare center and the number of children in the neighborhood.

MONROE - At a meeting Monday, the City of Monroe Insurance Committee:

- Met with representatives from CVMIC to discuss city's insurance program and policies.

- Recommend to the council to approve a membership commitment with CVMIC for the years 2013-2014.
