BRODHEAD - A Janesville man was killed and another seriously injured in a rollover accident in Brodhead Friday morning.

A pickup truck driven by 26-year-old Justin J. Chesmore, Janesville, was pulling an equipment trailer eastbound on Wisconsin 11. Chesmore lost control of the truck while rounding the corner at Brodhead Airport Road. The vehicle overturned, ejecting both Chesmore and a passenger, 23-year-old Cody T. Carney, Janesville, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.

Chesmore was pronounced dead at the scene. Carney was transported to University of Wisconsin Hospital by MedFlight for life-threatening injuries.

The accident occurred at about 9:50 a.m. Friday.

Neither man was wearing a seatbelt, officials said.

The intersection of Wis. 11 and Brodhead Airport Road, which is located at the south edge of Brodhead, was closed until Friday afternoon as a result of the accident, the Green County Sheriff's Department said.

The death is Green County's ninth traffic fatality of 2011.
