TOWN OF JEFFERSON — A Monroe man was arrested in Illinois Sept. 30 after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a rural Green County residence near the stateline.
Thomas C. Krieger, 46, was jailed in Stephenson County pending extradition to Wisconsin on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
He also faces charges in Stephenson County of speeding, disregarding a stop sign and resisting an officer. A jail administrator said Krieger was so “uncooperative at booking” that deputies were unable to get a mugshot of him.
According to the Green County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was reported stolen at about 9:30 a.m. Sept. 30 from a residence southeast of Monroe in the N1000 block of County K, Town of Jefferson.
The stolen vehicle was later observed by Stephenson County deputies, who stopped it and found that Krieger was the driver.
In an unrelated incident the day before, Monroe police cited Krieger for threatening a convenience store clerk. Krieger “went off” on the employee, threatening him and his family, Capt. Jerry Dahlen said. The city ordinance violation of disorderly conduct carries a $326.50 fine.
