MONROE - The Monroe Arts Center is preparing for its 2015 holiday silent auction. Opening night is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and the event runs through Dec. 12.
This annual holiday shopping tradition is an important fundraiser for MAC and offers a variety of unique gifts, featuring hundreds of items donated by individuals and businesses from Monroe and the surrounding area. All items will be displayed at MAC's Wesley Hall at 1315 11th St.
To help mark the auction opening is the 7:30 p.m. performance of New Odyssey. Reserved seat tickets are $25 and $20 for adults and $10 for students 18 and under.
For the convenience of shoppers, a Holiday Auction Booklet listing the items by category is provided. This year's auction categories are: original art and handcrafted items; holiday-themed items; books; home and garden; clothing and jewelry, collectibles; health and beauty; sports and recreation; theater, entertainment and getaways; restaurant and specialty dinners; baked goods and specialty foods; and "this and that." Auction items include handcrafted seasonal centerpieces; art objects; jewelry; golf packages; theater tickets to "Cabaret" in Chicago; a traditional Swiss dinner for four; a raclette dinner for six; a Green Bay Packers football; an Aaron Rodgers jersey; gift baskets, homemade candies, breads, cookies, cakes, pies, jams and jellies; and gift certificates.
