MONROE — During July and August, Monroe Arts Center is rolling out two classes for adults that will take place on the Zoom teleconference online format.

MAC Gallery Director Sarah Witke will teach the class “Doodle Your Way to Design” from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 28. This class will teach participants how to transform their favorite doodles into usable designs and guide them through the steps to create a hand-lettered alphabet. Participants will be shown how to use their personal designs in cards, journal entries, scrapbook pages, signs and artwork by implementing the skills taught in the class.

Sarah Witke holds degrees in both graphic design and art education and was the art teacher at Parkside Elementary for eight years before joining MAC. The registration deadline is noon on July 28.

“It’s Never Too Late” is a six-week guitar class for adults scheduled to take place from 7 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Aug. 4 through Sept. 8. In this class for beginners, instructor Nick Scheppele will cover topics such as how to tune the guitar, how to hold the pick, how to fret notes, strumming techniques, patterns and exercises. String names, basic chords and tablature as well as simple songs are all part of the lessons. Warm-up exercises and reviews will take place during each class. Instructional support materials are provided.

Nick Scheppele has been a music teacher for the last 10 years, teaching guitar, piano and ukulele to over a hundred students ranging from toddlers to adults. In the past, he has taught at Studio B in Monroe, Heid Music in Madison and currently runs Scheppele Music Lessons in Monroe. The registration deadline is noon on Aug. 4.
