MONROE - A Durand, Ill., man was arrested Friday by U.S. Marshalls on charges of failing to register as a sex offender and a parole violation in North Carolina.
Mark S. Curtis, 28, was jailed pending extradition to North Carolina, according to a Green County Sheriff's Department news release. Chief Deputy Tom Moczynski said the U.S. Marshalls apprehended Curtis and turned him over to the jail. As of Monday, Curtis was still in jail.
Online records from the North Carolina Department of Justice show Curtis was convicted in February 2003 on charges of second-degree sex offense and kidnapping a minor. He was last registered as a sex offender in July 2012.
