MONROE - The burn ban for rural Green County is lifted.

Green County's fire chiefs determined the recent rains were sufficient to allow residents to resume burning outdoors.

The Green County Sheriff's Department announced the lift of the burn ban Monday morning.

This affects all of Green County, with the exception of cities and villages that have their own ordinances in place.

The burn ban for Lafayette County continues, according to Chief Deputy John Reichling of the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department.
