MONROE - It's been 40 years since the first members of the Monroe Theatre Guild met to plan their first shows. In honor of those original 31 charter members, MTG has planned an anniversary celebration to take place on Saturday, Oct. 9. The event is free and open to the public and will be held at MTG's home in the former STAGE building, 910 16th Ave. Anyone who has been involved with MTG in the last 40 years is encouraged to attend. They also welcome their many supporters and show patrons and anyone interested in becoming a part of MTG.

The evening kicks off at 5 p.m. with an open house with beverages, hors d'oeuvres and cake. Forty years of MTG memorabilia will be on display for the public to peruse. There will also be an ongoing slideshow featuring photos from the long and rich history of the organization. The open house will run until 7 p.m.

At 7:30 p.m. a special show will be presented to take a look back, decade by decade of the people, shows and events that have made MTG what it is today. This special presentation will be a combination of live performance, interviews, video and photographs all hosted by some of MTG's most familiar faces. They will look at the past, the present and future and discuss things that are in store for the organization. Seating is limited for this performance so RSVP is necessary for this part of the event. Seating reservations can be made via e-mail at rmay.monroetheatre@tds.net or by calling (608) 325-1111.

In preparation for this event, members are still finding holes in the compilation of memorabilia. If any one has any photos, news clippings or information on any of the following shows, e-mail or call the contacts above.
