DARLINGTON - The Darlington Police Department will host an informational meeting on the subject of immigration at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Darlington High School auditorium.
The purpose of the meeting will be to present facts on current immigration issues affecting Darlington and the police department's role in immigration enforcement. Immigration laws, enforcement procedures, sanctuary city questions and other issues will be discussed.
The meeting will consist of a 60-minute presentation with a question and answer period afterward. Darlington Police Chief Jason King said the presentation will be about facts, not opinions or politics. The department will be offering current information about immigration laws and trends in an effort to aid citizens in better understanding the subject matter on a local level, according to the news release.
