MONROE — Patricia Wilson, RN, an SSM Health Monroe Hospital Emergency Department nurse, received the DAISY Award for nursing.
Patricia was nominated by fellow nurse, Beverly Ethridge, RN, PCCN, who have both been members of the COVID-19 Nurses Line team.
A press release quoted from Wilson’s application for the award: “Patricia is very bright and helps us triage calls to refer patients to the proper departments for their care. Her experience of working in our Emergency Department frequently comes in handy for identifying those at risk for a medical emergency. (Earlier this year), Patricia helped save a life. A call came in from an elderly patient who was complaining of a stomach problem and wanting to make an appointment with a new provider. During the triage process, Patricia learned that they also had chest pain radiating to their left shoulder and arm. Patricia recognized the signs of a heart attack and referred them to the Emergency Department. The patient was diagnosed with a heart attack and needed procedures. Two days later, they were discharged. I am proud to work with Patricia.”
