MONROE - A Monroe woman accused of stabbing a 52-year-old man is free on a $25,000 signature bond after making her initial appearance Wednesday in Green County Circuit Court.

Sheryl A. Vincent, 44, is charged with second-degree reckless injury, a class F felony, and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor, both by use of a dangerous weapon.

She faces more than 18 years in prison and up to $26,000 in fines, if convicted. Her preliminary hearing is April 14 before Green County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Vale.

As part of the conditions of Vincent's bond, she can't have any contact with the victim.

According to the Monroe Police Department, officers were dispatched at about 6 p.m. Friday to a residence in the 800 block of 20th Avenue following a report of a stabbing. An initial investigation revealed the man had been stabbed in the side of the chest with a kitchen knife, with a blade length of about 4 inches, during a domestic dispute.

The victim sustained a collapsed lung and lacerations to his lung, spleen and diaphragm, according to police. He was taken to the Monroe Clinic by Green County Emergency Medical Services. He was later transported to the University of Wisconsin Hospital by Med-Flight.

He is no longer a patient at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, a hospital spokesman said Wednesday.
