Vivian D. Spani, 87, of Monroe died on Tuesday, October 04, 2016 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on December 7, 1928 the daughter of Ador and Goldie (Gilbertson) Nyborg in Argyle. Vivian was united in marriage to Herman A. Spani on January 11, 1946 in Blanchardville.
Vivian farmed alongside her husband in Blanchardville before moving to Monroe and worked for Frito Lay in Monroe for 20 years. She then owned and operated Etter's Floor Covering for 15 years, followed by 10 years with The Monroe Times. She had been a long time member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor's Catholic Church and the VFW Women's Auxiliary. Vivian enjoyed flower gardening, playing cards, cooking, and embroidery projects for her grandchildren. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing.
She is survived by her four daughters, Joann Goecks of Juda, Donna (Ronald) Briggs of Monroe, Linda (Tom) Bacher of Freeport, and Kathy (Duane) Kubly of Monroe; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Lester Nyborg of Janesville, and Roger (Beverly) Nyborg of Odessa, TX.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, brothers, James Nyborg in infancy, Herman Nyborg, and Wilford (Betty) Nyborg; sisters: Leona (John) Stackle, Florence (Gus) Grosskreutz, and Shirley (Charlie) Anderson, and Inez (Dean) Davis; and son-in-law, Gary Goecks.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Monday, October 10, 2016 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor's Catholic Church, with Monsignor Larry Bakke as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016 from 3:00-6:00 pm at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE Funeral Home; as well as from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church on Monday. A Memorial Fund is being established in Vivian's name.
