Virgil A. Meighan, age 52, of rural Monroe, died on Wednesday, May 24, at UW Hospital Madison. He was born on February 10, 1965 in Freeport, IL, the son of Virgil C. and Peggy (Janicke) Meighan and graduated from Pearl City High School.

He worked for Star Manufacturing in Freeport and most recently was a mechanic at Alphorn Ford.

Virgil attended Staver United Methodist Church.

He was an avid sports fan, and a big fan of the Chicago Bears.

He was on the Monroe Dart League and enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his life partner, Sheila Moore, mother, Peggy (Jim) Quinn of Lena IL, and father, Virgil C. Meighan of Freeport, IL; children: Xena Meighan, Crystal Meighan, and Amber Meighan all of Monroe; step-brothers, Larry (Heather) Barker of Savanna, IL, Ken (Donna) Quinn of Lena, IL; and Jay (Michelle) Andrews of Pearl city, IL; 5 nieces, 4 nephews and several aunts and uncles.

He is predeceased by his grandparents, Paul E. and Marion G. Janicke; Clarence and Lois Meighan and mother-in-law, Sandra Moore.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME in Monroe, with Pastor Inwah Shon officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 30th, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

A Memorial fund is being established in Virgil's memory.
