Veronica A. Garrison, age 85, of Darlington, WI, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015, at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI. She was born February 25, 1929 in Seymour Township, WI, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Wiegel) Burke. Veronica lived in the Darlington area all of her life. She graduated from Darlington High School in 1947. Veronica was united in marriage to Russell Bredeson on January 26, 1951 in Mount Horeb, WI. She worked at Hilda's Café in Darlington as a Waitress. Veronica later worked at St. Clare's Hospital in Monroe as a Nurse's Aide. She also worked at Kroger Grocery Store as a Clerk for a number of years. Veronica worked as a CNA at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County and then at the Lafayette Manor. She was united in marriage to Gary Garrison on January 16, 1988 at Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington.
Veronica is survived by her husband: Gary at home; three children: Diane Bredeson of Darlington, Jim (Mary) Bredeson of Boscobel, WI, and Donna Lawinger of Mineral Point, WI; two granddaughters: Hannah Lawinger and Elizabeth (Gene) Linfante; two grandsons: Jeremy and Barrett Bredeson; one great-granddaughter: Kaitlynn Bredeson; and two sisters-in-law: Josephine Burke and Mildred "Mert" Burke both of Darlington. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson: Will Lawinger; seven brothers: Lewis, Joe, Larry, Phil, Harold, Pat, and Charles Burke; and one sister: Mary Cortez.
Veronica was an associated member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mineral Point. She enjoyed attending her granddaughters' sporting events and watching the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Brewers. She also enjoyed crocheting, carpentry, baking, cooking, mowing the lawn, yard work, gardening, and decorating for Christmas. Veronica babysat for many children throughout the years.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 400 Ridge Street in Mineral Point with Rev. Cal Schaver officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation will be held Monday, January 12, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home, 508 Main Street in Darlington and on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
