Vernon G. "Muggs" Yackley, Age 93, of Monroe, WI, formerly of Lisle, Naperville and Oswego, IL, died Friday, March 19, 2010 at his home. He was born June 12, 1916 in Lisle.
Loving husband of the late Rose (nee Wiezik) Yackley, whom he married November 9, 1935, beloved father of Pamela K. (James A.) Russo of Mazomanie, WI, adored grandfather of James Jr. (Jill) Russo of Monroe, WI, Vincent II (Pamela) Russo of Prairie du Sac, WI, Rose M. Russo and Sandra Russo, both of Iowa City, IA, cherished great-grandfather of Alisa and Kasi Russo, Vanina and Nolan Russo, devoted son of the late John and Sophia Yackley, dear brother of the late Bill, Lutz, Howie, Ralph, Gert, Val and Lucille, fond uncle of many.
Muggs was a longtime resident of Lisle, owned and operated Yackley Material Services, served as a volunteer Lisle firefighter and was a member of the Lisle Historical Society and St. Joan of Arc Church. He was a current member of St. Victor Catholic Church, Monroe and a former member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Naperville and St. Anne Catholic Church, Oswego. Muggs hobbies included steam engines and toy trains.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.
Services will begin 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 25, from the funeral home and will proceed to an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
Interment: SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
