Vera Mae Zimmerman, 97 of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe. She was born the daughter of William and Alta (Cossgrove) Qualley on October 22, 1918. Vera was united in marriage to Glenn John Zimmerman on September 27, 1941 in Monroe; he preceded her in death in 1989.
Vera worked for many years at the Monroe Clinic Hospital first in housekeeping and later in the mail delivery department. She was a long time member of the Monroe United Methodist Church. Vera enjoyed crocheting and sewing.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Yaun of Roscoe, IL; grandchildren, Todd (Rhonda) Yaun of Belvidere, IL, Tina (Aaron) Guske of Roscoe, IL, and Troy (Valerie) Yaun of Rockford, IL; as well as six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Derendinger of Monroe and June (Kenneth) Blumer of Albany. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Lowell and Russell Qualley; and four sisters, Ruth Malkow, Verna Zimmerman, Daphne Minder and Jean Elmer.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Booth officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Monroe United Methodist Church.
