Vera M. Hanson, age 94, of Monroe, formerly of the Darlington area, died on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on November 5, 1916, in Belmont, Lafayette County, the daughter of Louis F. and Susan (Tubbs) Heins. Vera and Hilmer Hanson were married on November 28, 1936. She farmed with her husband for many years and also worked at the St. Clare Hospital, Monroe Clinic and The Swiss Colony in Monroe. Vera was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and Women of the Moose Lodge# 599.
She is survived by her son, Melvin (Carolyn) Hanson of Adams Friendship; daughter, Karen (Dave) Pagel of Juda; brothers, Delbert (Joanne) Heins of Monroe, Bernard Heins of Rockford, IL; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Hilmer in 1977; brothers, Wilbert, Frank, Guerdon, and 2 in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe, with Rev. John Tabaka officiating. Burial will be in the Belmont Cemetery, Belmont Township, Lafayette County. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 12 noon at the Church.
A Memorial Fund is being established in Vera's memory.
