Green County Sheriff

MONROE - On Friday, Feb. 28:

• Nicole R. Haberman, 36, Brodhead, was uninjured after reporting a collision with a deer on Wis. 11 east of Wis. 59, Town of Monroe, at 6:42 p.m. The vehicle received minor front-end damage and was driven from the scene.

• Jeffrey A. Morris, 65, Belleville, was uninjured following an accident that occurred on Wis. 92 near Blazer Road, Town of Exeter. Morris was eastbound on Wis. 92 when he lost control on the snow-covered roadway, entered the ditch and hit a utility pole. Morris was cited at 10:09 p.m. for failure to maintain control of a vehicle and released pending court.

On Saturday, March 1:

• No injuries were reported after a plow vs. vehicle crash on County W, west of Wis. 69, Town of New Glarus. Randy L. Goecks, 29, New Glarus, was operating a Green County Highway Department plow truck when he approached a stop sign on County W and stopped. Goecks then backed up to clear more snow from the area and hit a vehicle operated by Tyler J. Wenger, 24, Monroe. Wenger had stopped behind the plow and was unable to avoid the collision. Wenger's vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene at 6:37 a.m.

• No injuries were reported after a two-vehicle accident in the N1800 block of Wis. 69, Town of Clarno at 2:01 p.m. Jo Anne J. Leuenberger, 57, Monroe, was southbound on Wis. 69 when she signaled to make a right turn into a driveway. Ashley J. Walton, 29, Gratiot, was also southbound and was unable to stop in time to avoid colliding with Leuenberger's vehicle.

• No injuries were reported after a milk truck vs. passenger car crash at the intersection of Wis. 69 at Patina Lane, Town of Clarno at 2:20 p.m. Franklin M. Patterson, 79, Monroe, was stopped at the stop sign on Patina Lane at Wis. 69. Richard A. King, 44, Albany, was operating a milk truck northbound on Wis. 69 south of the intersection. Patterson drove from the stop sign to turn left and drove into the path of the milk truck, where the two vehicles collided. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were driven from the scene. Peterson will be cited for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign.

• No injuries were reported from passengers or the driver in a one-vehicle rollover crash that occurred in the N6000 block of Wis. 59, Town of Albany. Reave D. Lincoln, 17, rural Brodhead, was southbound on Wis. 104 cresting a hill, when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered the ditch and overturned, landing onto the driver's side. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was removed from the ditch by a tow service, then it was driven from the scene. Lincoln was cited for failure to maintain control at 3:37 p.m. and released pending court.

• Samantha M. Wilkenson, 29, Mount Prospect, and her passengers were uninjured in a one-vehicle rollover on County W at Christen Road, Town of Exeter. Wilkenson lost control of the vehicle and entered the ditch where the vehicle overturned onto its side. The vehicle sustained moderate damage, was removed by a tow service and was later driven from the scene at 5:19 p.m.

• Chelsea R. Knell, 24, Monroe, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash in the N4400 block of Wis. 59, Town of Sylvester. Knell was northbound on Wis. 59 negotiating a curve when she lost control of the vehicle and slid into the west ditch, coming to rest on a snow bank. Knell was cited at 8 p.m. for no insurance and released pending court.

• Deputies responded to three separate reports of vehicles in the ditch throughout Green County. In each instance there were no injuries or damages reported.

On Sunday, March 2:

• No injuries were reported in a plow vs. passenger car crash in the W1400 block of Shanghai Road, Town of Spring Grove, at 8:30 a.m. Kevin G. Malkow, 51, Brodhead, was driving a Spring Grove plow truck eastbound on Shanghai Road plowing snow. Malkow stopped and attempted to back around another eastbound car when the plow wing hit the vehicle driven by Jonathan W. Funk, 38, Juda. Funk's vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene. The plow truck received no damage.

• No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County J at County H, Town of York at 8:37 a.m. Cherilyn K. Venden, 38, rural Blanchardville, was southbound on County J and turning onto County H when a vehicle driven by Daniel J. Zermmerman, 35, rural Monroe, hit Venden's vehicle on the driver's side. The roadway was icy and snow-covered. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were driven from the scene.

• Bryce C. Zettle, 19, Juda, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash in the W2600 block of County KS, Town of Jefferson at 5:54 p.m. Zettle was eastbound on County KS negotiating a curve when she lost control of the vehicle on the snow-covered roadway and slid into a snow bank. The vehicle was removed from the ditch by a private party and driven from the scene.

• Deputies responded to four separate reports of vehicles in the ditch throughout Green County. In each instance, no damages or injuries were reported.



Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON - On Friday, Feb. 28:

• Scott J. Paffel, 34, Monroe, was uninjured in a one-vehicle accident on Wis. 11, Wayne Township at 7:40 p.m. Paffel was eastbound when he veered right to avoid a hitting a deer. His 2006 Dodge went off the roadway and struck and drove over the top of a guardrail before coming to rest in a field. The van received extensive damage and was towed from the scene.

• Deputies responded to several complaints of vehicles in the ditch and slide-offs around 8:17 p.m. as roads became slippery from the light snow. No injuries or damages were reported from these incidents.

• Dakota W. Vaassen, 21, Galena, Ill., was uninjured in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 151, Kendall Township. Vaassen was southbound when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered roadway. The vehicle traveled into the median area where it hit a snowbank before coming to rest in a ditch. The 2003 Chrysler sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene.

On Saturday, March 1:

• No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident on County XX, Belmont Township at 10:28 a.m. Amanda D. Trumm, 22, Mankato, Minn., was eastbound on County XX and was slowing to turn right into a private driveway. Thomas S. Massey, 37, Darlington, was also eastbound but unable to stop on the snow-covered roadway and hit the back of Trumm's vehicle. Trumm's vehicle then slid sideways into a snow bank. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were driven from the scene.

• Deputies responded at around 2:03 p.m. to several reports of vehicles in the ditch and slide-offs as roadways became slippery and snow-covered. Wisconsin State Patrol assisted with the incidents. No injuries or property damage were reported.

• No injuries were reported in a snow plow vs. vehicle accident on U.S. 151, Belmont Township. Terry L. McCartney, 58, Platteville, was northbound on U.S. 151 driving a Grant County plow truck crossing into Lafayette County from Grant County. As McCartney began to slow, a vehicle driven by Joseph S. Manchen, 44, Madison, hit the snow plow from behind as Manchen failed to see the truck and its emergency lighting due to the blowing snow. Manchen's vehicle then traveled off the roadway and into the ditch. The plow truck sustained moderate damage. Manchen's 2007 Toyota sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene. Manchen was cited at 2:48 p.m. for driving too fast for conditions.

• No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident on Wis. 23, Willow Springs Township. William E. Rule, 64, Dodgeville, was northbound when he overtook a tractor with a rear-attached snow blower. Rule attempted to pass the tractor driven by Richard H. Ubersox, 64, Darlington, on the left and hit the snow plow unit causing his truck to slide sideways into the ditch before coming to rest in a yard. Rule's 2002 Dodge truck sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene. The snow plow unit of Ubersox's tractor also received extensive damage. Rule was arrested at 11:18 p.m. for OWI, second offense, and inattentive driving. Rule was later released to a responsible party.

• Jessica J. Reichling, 28, New Lisbon, and her passenger reported no injuries from a one-vehicle accident on Wis. 23, Willow Springs Township at 11:50 p.m. Reichling was northbound when she reported the slushy roadway began to pull her vehicle into the ditch. Reichling over-corrected and her vehicle traveled across the roadway and into the opposite ditch where it struck a snow bank. The 2007 Chevrolet Silverado truck Reichling was driving sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.
