DARLINGTON - Three people were injured in a one-vehicle accident around 8 p.m. Sunday on County W in New Diggings township. Deputies report a vehicle driven by James P. Hermsen, 49, Cuba City, left the road, hit a fence and rolled over. Hermsen and his passengers, Thomas J. Hermsen, 44, Keiler, and Kim L. Morton, 46, Evansville, were treated for minor injuries. Hermsen was arrested for drunken driving and driving without a valid license. He was released pending court. The vehicle received extensive damage and was towed from the scene.
Two people were injured in a buggy accident around 4:45 p.m. Sunday on West Water Street in Shullsburg. Deputies report Patrick H. Tracy, 50, Shullsburg, was driving a buggy when the horses became spooked by a malfunction of the hitching apparatus. The horses galloped out of control until the buggy hit a utility pole. Tracy and Phyllis O. Tracy, 47, Shullsburg, were taken to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County. Four other occupants in the buggy were treated for minor injuries. The horses broke free from the buggy but were later recaptured unharmed.
No one was injured in a two-vehicle accident around 5 p.m. Friday on Wisconsin 126 in Belmont township. Deputies report a vehicle driven by Leona E. Engelke, 88, Belmont, turned into the path of a vehicle driven by Matthew F. Fink, 28, Darlington. Both vehicles received moderate damage. Engelke was cited for a seat belt violation.
No one was injured in a one-vehicle accident around 12:30 a.m. Friday on County D in Wayne township. Deputies report a vehicle driven by Joshua D. Fox, 33, South Wayne, failed to negotiate a curve, left the road, hit a sign and came to rest in a ditch. Fox's truck received extensive damage and was towed. He was cited for failure to have control of a vehicle.
A vehicle driven by Daniel R. Briggs, 33, Monroe, hit a deer around 8:15 p.m. Saturday on Wis. 11 in New Diggings township. The vehicle received moderate damage.
A vehicle driven by Terry L. Berget, 55, South Wayne, hit a deer 9:15 p.m. Saturday on Wis. 11 in Wayne township. The vehicle received moderate damage.
A vehicle driven by F. John Reichling, Darlington, hit a deer around 10:15 p.m. Saturday on Wis. 11 in Gratiot township. The vehicle received moderate damage and was towed from the scene.
A vehicle driven by Douglas A. Yensler, 47, Vinton, Iowa, hit a deer around 9:30 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 151 in Belmont township. The vehicle received moderate damage.
A vehicle driven by Lanita K. Olson, 37, Lodi, hit a deer around 9:45 p.m. Sunday on County G in Kendall township. The vehicle received moderate damage.
