BRODHEAD - Sylvia A. Schwartzlow, age 91, formerly of Brodhead, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2008 at the New Glarus Nursing Home. She was born on July 21, 1916 in Decatur Township, Green County, the daughter of A. Albert and Mary (Lederman) Krause. She married Marvin R. Schwartzlow on January 1, 1936 in Appleton, WI. He passed away on June 4, 2003.
Sylvia and her husband had farmed in Decatur Township before moving to Brodhead in 1975. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Brodhead.
She is survived by her children: Donna (Tom) Edgar, Janesville, Richard (Evelyn) Schwartzlow, Brodhead, Aleta (Mac) Ties, Ferryville, WI; a brother, Robert (Ann) Krause, Urbandale, IA; a sister-in-law, Lucille Schwartzlow, Brodhead; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, James in 1999, and two brothers, Ivan and Walter Krause.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the United Methodist Church, Brodhead, with Rev. Dave Busker officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until time of services at the church. A memorial fund will be established. The D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD is assisting the family.
