Stockton arrest seizes 947 grams of pot

STOCKTON — A 37-year-old Dubuque man was arrested on a marijuana possession charge after a traffic stop early Jan. 21.

Jamal L. Curtis was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis after a search of his car found approximately 947 grams of marijuana in multiple bags, according to the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office

Curtis’ vehicle had been stopped for speeding on U.S. 20 near Pearl Street outside Stockton around 1:05 a.m. Deputies “immediately recognized the strong odor of burnt cannabis emitting from the vehicle,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Illinois residents are allowed to possess up to 30 grams of marijuana, up to 500 milligrams of THC in a marijuana-infused product, or up to 5 grams of marijuana concentrate. State residents are allowed to purchase up to 1 ounce (28 grams) of marijuana and up to 5 grams of cannabis concentrate from a licensed marijuana dispensary. Transporting marijuana requires a transportation license.
