Stanley J. Franson, age 81 of Monroe, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 5, 1934 in Ishpeming, MI, the son of Stanley and Eveleth (Andrews) Franson. He graduated from Ishpeming High School and Northern Michigan University, with a BS in Economics. Stanley served in the U. S. Air Force for 4 years. He married Janet L. Pepin on October 17, 1960 in Ishpeming, Michigan. Stan owned and operated the Hearing Aid Center in Monroe for 35 years. He was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, Zilmer Riley American Legion, post #84, Loyal Order of Moose, lodge #754, and formerly a Boy Scout Leader for 21 years.

He is survived by his wife, Janet of Monroe; 4 children: Steve (Sue) Franson of Monroe, David (Amy) Franson of Dubuque, IA, Alan (Cathy Byington) Franson of Lime Ridge, WI, and Kathleen Franson of Monroe, 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a brother, William (Judy) Franson of Jacksonville, FL; 3 sisters: Judy Brown of Minneapolis, MN, Joyce (Al) Smith and Janice (Steve) Lahti both of Negaunee, MI; plus many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 4, 2015 at Monroe United Methodist Church, with Reverend Randy Booth officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 3rd, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Monroe United Methodist Church in Stan's memory.
