Stanley H. Jackson, age 96 of Monroe, died November 8, 2013 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born March 13, 1917 to Theodore and Ida (Hanson) Jackson in Fayette Township, La Fayette County. He married E. Carol Berget on June 14, 1944. They farmed in the Darlington and Wiota area until moving to Monroe in 1968. He then worked for Kuhne Construction, Bauman Ace Hardware, Monroe Public Schools and Monroe Specialty.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church after transferring from West Wiota Lutheran and formerly Yellowstone Lutheran. Stanley was a past member of Wiota and Grace Church council, Wiota Fire Dept., Wiota Home Talent Baseball Team, Wiota Cheese Factory Board, Hawley School Board, a charter member of Wiota Ball Park and a member of the Moose Lodge #754. He loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed all sports.
He is survived by his son, Gary (Glenna) Jackson of Madison; two daughters: Sheila (Jim) Bartels of Hudson, WI and Jean (Bill) Wyss of Monroe; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, E. Carol; 2 sisters: Ilah and Thelma Johnson; 4 brothers: Glen, Clayton, Harlan and Floyd Jackson; and a great granddaughter, Marley Bartels.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 12 , 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor John Tabaka officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, Monroe. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am, until the time of service, at the Church. Shriner Hager Gohlke funeral home is assisting the family.
